Closing active player stock = opening stock + new entrants + returning players + inbound transfers − dropouts − outbound transfers.

The elite version of the same idea is a talent balance: produced, retained, playing abroad, representing another nation, inbound, returning, retired, converted through a pathway. Movement is not a moral failure. It is a flow. The system should be able to see it.
